Feed your mind as well as your need for awesome Mexican food at our monthly Lunch & Learn program.

Our topic is Green Fun for Kids!

Learn how the playing of today is inspiring environmental stewardship and innovation in our youth and find ways your company can be involved.  Our speakers will be Gabby Hebert from The Phoenix Zoo and Jennifer Velez from ASU and First Lego League (FLL).

About our Speakers:

Gabby Hebert

Gabby has been an environmental educator for over 15 years and is currently is the Director of Education for the Phoenix Zoo, where in addition to overseeing all educational programming at the Zoo she also helps advise and instruct graduate students to become leaders in environmental stewardship and community engagement. She holds a BS in Conservation Biology and an MA in Environmental Education and Communication. Her master’s thesis work focused on understanding the psychological underpinnings of being an environmental educator and developing professional development opportunities around that topic. Gabby also serves on the Board of Directors for Be Outdoors Arizona and the Arizona Association for Environmental Education (AAEE), both organizations that, along with the Phoenix Zoo, are striving to improve people’s connections and care for nature through nature play, environmental education and environmental literacy.

Jennifer Velez

Before joining ASU, Jennifer Velez spent seven years teaching at Navajo Elementary, a STEM focus school in Scottsdale, AZ. Ms. Velez currently serves as K-12 Outreach Coordinator Senior for Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU. As Outreach Coordinator, Ms. Velez works to engage K-12 students in engineering through events and programs, such as engineering summer camps, DiscoverE Day, and Arizona FIRST LEGO League robotics, all of which are designed to provide children with opportunities to practice and develop engineering habits of mind.
